Elevator to the Sun

No one was listening to the dirty princess on the throne
I was a custodian, she was looking for a chaperone
Coal miner on the run, I thought for sure she’d found me out
Staring into the sun she said let’s take a different route

Dragon fairies at the door
Give me a little I want some more
Wish on me, oh wish I might
Make a wish for me tonight
Poison berries in disguise
It comes to me as no surprise
Tell me I’m the only one
I’m on an elevator to the sun

Armed with her parasol she wouldn’t hear of culture shock
A rumbling from the underground, a floor a second ‘round the clock
She don’t believe in fairy tales or anything not easily explained
She’ll tell you what tomorrow brings, but can’t remember yesterday
